The energy was brilliant, there`s something special that happens when a visiting storyteller arrives, and the children felt it. They were completely drawn in, singing along and listening intently as stories came to life.
Visits like these matter because they show children that the wider world is interested in them and their learning. They meet adults who care about books, language, and sharing stories, and that plants a seed. Children start to see reading and storytelling not just as something that happens at nursery, but as something adults beyond their everyday circle are genuinely passionate about. That connection, that sense of being part of a bigger community of learners and readers, that`s powerful.

Our environments are never finished. They`re always growing. 🦖
When our children became fascinated by dinosaurs, we didn`t just add a book to the shelf. We built an entire world, layered displays, dinosaur figures, books, loose materials to explore. We`re constantly watching what captures children`s attention and responding with new possibilities. A child wonders about flying dinosaurs, so suddenly there are questions about wings and movement.
Another notices teeth and claws, we add magnifying glasses and mark-making tools.
This is how environments become places where children feel seen. Where their interests matter. Where there`s always something new to discover because the space is genuinely shaped around who they are and what they`re wondering about right now. 🌿
A sky full of colours. 🌈
Our Bees room has been exploring rainbows and colour mixing and what looked like simple painting in the garden was actually so much more.
Children were learning to hold a brush with confidence, exploring different textures through their hands, and discovering which colours they`re drawn to. Every squeeze of a sponge, every brushstroke, was building fine motor strength and hand control they`ll need for writing.
But here`s what our staff noticed most -
