The Benefits of our nurseries...

Healthy eating

We place great importance on keeping healthy.

We place great importance on keeping healthy. We teach the children about the importance of eating healthily and taking regular exercise. We provide delicious and nutritious home-cooked meals and snacks. All meals are made from fresh produce and prepared in the nursery by qualified and trained staff.

We want to offer you the best possible support, and work with you when it comes to your children’s eating and nutritional development. By encouraging the development of healthy eating habits, children’s mealtimes are a relaxed, enjoyable group time with children interacting and learning valuable social skills like a family mealtime.
Outdoor spaces

We believe that it is essential to provide a healthy approach to ensure your child grows and develops well.

Our nurseries have very well resourced, outdoor play areas. All our children have access to these areas throughout the day to ensure they get the fresh air and open space which is vital to young children’s learning and development. Outdoor activities are planned as an extension of each room and enable the children to develop and learn many more skills. The children have regular active times each day and enjoy dance and games sessions as part of the curriculum.
SEN

All of our nurseries are committed to providing an inclusive environment that values the individual needs of all of the children in our care, including those with special educational needs.

Each nursery is committed to the integration of children with special needs as we believe that all children have the right to be educated and develop their full potential alongside each other.

The Assistant Manager of each nursery is the Designated SENCO Coordinator and they work closely with the manager and Primary SENCOs who are SENCO trained to ensure that the personal and educational needs of the children are put first. All staff follow the SEN Code of Practice and are highly motivated and committed to working collaboratively and flexibly with parents and SENCO professionals. We have built effective partnerships with an array of educational and health professionals, allowing our nurseries to meet the needs of a broad range of children with special educational needs and disabilities.
At Forest House Nurseries we believe it is a positive experience to be able to share the same opportunities and overcome any difficulties together and we are confident that all of our nurseries can offer this within safe, secure stimulating environments.
Teaching / learning

We support children’s natural curiosity by providing a wide range of experiences, and plenty of positive interaction with well-trained, professional staff.

As fully qualified and experienced teachers, we ensure that all planning and activities offer a wealth of experiences for learning through using natural resources and sensory play. This is supported by our highly qualified Early Years Teachers who constantly support and inspire both staff and children with their learning and development.

Children learn to listen and talk a long time before they learn to read and write. We value the importance of talk. Learning happens everywhere; doing little jobs together, sharing stories, songs and rhymes, playing in the sand. All of this is fun and builds children’s self-confidence and self-esteem. The more they practice talking and listening, the more they will build the language and communication skills they will need throughout life.

We celebrate each and every child as an individual. We operate a Key Person programme which ensures each child has a close link to the adults who care for them to ensure we are meeting all our children’s needs and interests.
