Recently at Maple House, the children discovered that maths is everywhere, even in a pile of sticks. πΏ
They sorted and ordered sticks from smallest to biggest, comparing sizes and learning the language that goes with it. Then came the creative part: threading coloured threads through each stick to transform them into wind catchers for the garden.
What looked like craft was actually building three things at once.
β¨ The ordering work strengthened their understanding of size, sequence and pattern.
β¨ The threading developed the fine hand strength they`ll need for writing.
β¨ And choosing colours, planning their design, trying different approaches,.that`s where problem-solving and creativity come together.
Now every time the wind catches those catchers, the children see something they made and measured and thought carefully about.
That`s learning that sticks around. π
Maple House has been exploring something special: where our food comes from. Our strawberries and herbs are thriving, we`ve just spotted the first sprouts emerging, and our pumpkin plants (grown from seeds Billy carefully saved last year) are reaching towards the sun. β¨
It might look like simple gardening, but there`s real learning happening here. Children are noticing how plants change day by day. They`re getting their hands in soil, learning patience as they wait for seeds to grow, and beginning to understand that food doesn`t just arrive at the table it grows, it takes care, and it connects us to the world around us.
Growing our own food also sits at the heart of our sustainability goals. When children help grow what they eat, they start to notice the seasons, respect where things come from, and develop a real curiosity about nature and care for the planet.π
Every child is unique. At Maple House, we recognise that. β¨
We know that no two children are the same. What one child needs to feel secure looks different for another. That`s why we don`t work from a one-size-fits-all approach, we work from what your child needs.
Our team takes time to really know each child. Through careful observation and genuine connection, we understand your child`s personality, their pace, what makes them feel brave, what they need when they`re unsure. Your child`s key person becomes someone they trust completely, someone who sees them and meets them exactly where they are.
A nurturing environment means your child is listened to. It means we notice the small moments, the hesitation, the breakthrough, the joy. It means we adapt, we respond, and we move at their pace, not a schedule.
When a child feels truly known and genuinely cared for, something shifts. They settle. They become curious. They grow in confidence. That`s what happens at Maple House because we believe every child deserves to be seen as the individual they are.
Your child will be happy, secure, and nurtured because we`re building a relationship with them, not just providing care. πΏ
Starting nursery is a big moment. For your child, and for you. π€
We understand that those first days can feel emotional, leaving your child in someone else`s hands is a leap of faith. Which is why we take time to really know each child and build genuine trust from day one.
Settling isn`t something we rush. Every child arrives with their own personality, their own pace, their own way of feeling safe. Some children bound in confidently; others need time to adjust. Both are completely normal, and we meet each child exactly where they are.
What matters most is that your child feels seen. Our team notices the things that make them comfortable, a favourite toy, the quiet corner, a particular song. We build relationships slowly and steadily, so that over time, your child begins to relax and settle into their new routine.
We share the moments that matter, the breakthrough, the laughter, the small sign that your child is starting to feel at home. Because we know you`re thinking about them, and we want you to feel confident in what`s happening here.
At Maple House, we believe that a child who feels safe and understood is a child ready to learn, explore, and grow. That foundation, that sense of belonging, is what we build together in those early weeks.
Your trust matters to us. And we`re committed to honouring it every single day. β¨
At Maple House, we`re building thinkers from day one. π
Whether children are constructing, experimenting, creating or exploring, they`re developing the reasoning and confidence that matter far beyond nursery.
πΏ Through hands-on investigation, they discover how things work.
πΏ Through building and design, they solve problems.
πΏThrough art and creativity, they learn to express ideas and trust their own thinking.
That`s aiming high at Maple House. β¨
Children learn differently when they have room to breathe, move, and explore freely. β¨
At Maple House, our huge outdoor space isn`t an add-on, it`s central to how children develop. Here, they run, climb, dig, build, problem-solve and take safe risks. They discover what their bodies can do. They learn to navigate challenges. They develop resilience not from worksheets, but from real, messy, outdoor play.
Our skilled team understands that outdoor learning is real learning. They`re out there with the children, noticing what captures their imagination, extending their thinking, helping them go deeper. A log becomes an obstacle course, a bridge, a den. Sand becomes engineering. A slope becomes an adventure.
We`re nestled in a community with strong local links, which means children experience the wider world beyond our gates; real connections with people around them.
When children have space to move, adults who truly see them, and genuine freedom to explore, that`s when they truly flourish.

Old crayons. New masterpieces. π
What do you do with crayons that are too small to use? The children at Maple House discovered the answer during Zero Waste Weekβyou transform them!
They sorted colours, made bold decisions about which shades should blend together, and watched as old became new. They placed broken crayons into leaf-shaped moulds and created something completely their own, fresh crayons that looked like autumn leaves. That`s creative thinking in action.
As they made these new crayons, they were problem-solving, imagining, creating. They walked away with crayons they`d made themselves and the powerful realisation that old materials can become something beautiful and brand new.
Sustainability isn`t something you teach children about. It`s something they discover when they get to do it themselves. β¨
We couldn`t have put it any better ourselves... β¨
Our latest Ofsted inspection captured something that makes us proud, a strong sense of togetherness is evident in this nurturing setting. Our team works together to create an environment where children truly thrive. πΏ
Behind that togetherness is an ambitious curriculum, thoughtfully designed to stretch children`s thinking and build their capabilities. We don`t settle for `good enough`, we believe in offering children rich, purposeful learning experiences that prepare them for what comes next.
When a child is part of Maple House, they`re part of a team that believes in them. That togetherness changes everything. π
